Now…Now…Now
Someone asked me how to keep up a sense of urgency. One way is to adopt the concept of NOW!
When my daughter was younger and she’d have a “blood sugar moment” (we all know what that is!), she’d say she needed food “now…Now…NOW!” That’s become one of those joke phrases in our family. Now. Now. Now.
On a more serious note, Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke in the “I Have a Dream Speech” of the “fierce urgency of now.” In other words, racial justice and equality couldn’t wait any longer. “Now is the time…” he thundered.
In our business, we need to take hold of this idea and live by it. Make the call…now. Fill the order…now. File the claim…now. Answer the phone…now. Update the data…now. While I’m a firm believer in timeblocking I am dead set against timepushing. It’s always easier to “do it later.” Do it NOW!
