Time Wasters and Nice People

I’m a nice person. At least my dog and my grandchildren think I am a nice person. And because I am a nice person I sometimes let people waste my time—just to be nice. Because saying I need to get off the phone or leave a meeting or turn down an appointment seems “not nice” I end up being not nice to myself and my team by letting someone use up time I could have used much more profitability.

You are a nice person—which is why you probably think this blog is about you! Well it’s not. I am not referring to anyone in our company or on my team. So, if you’re feeling a bit sensitive let it pass.

What I am talking about is the potential to let all the capacity we create through better technology and processes get frittered away on the phone, on Facebook, or in lunches.

Nice people need to be smart people too.
